FOREWORD

Charis Southwell was born on February 18, 1941, to
Donald B. and Afton Greenwood in Logan, Utah. In her
teens she became chronically frail due to a rare disease
called Lupus. However, she was a high school commencement
speaker in Sunnyvale, California, and she graduated
cum laude from the Brigham Young University where her
poetry won several awards. She died on March 6, 1970,
at age 29.

This volume contains some of the poetry from her files,
including some she did not consider finished.
